While the app is in use (“foreground”) In the background, if you have granted background location permission (for example, so a driver can be matched to a nearby rider, or so a rider can track an in-progress trip)

Match riders with nearby available drivers Calculate routes, fares, and estimated arrival/drop-off times Provide real-time navigation and trip tracking Verify pickup and drop-off locations for safety and fraud-prevention purposes Improve service reliability, coverage, and platform performance Respond to safety incidents or investigate trip disputes
How location data is shared:
Riders and drivers matched on a given trip may see each other’s approximate real-time location for the duration of that trip We may share location data with mapping and navigation service providers (e.g., mapping API providers) solely to generate routes and ETAs We may disclose location data as required by law or legal process, as described in Section 8
Your choices: You can enable or disable location permissions (including “always,” “while using the app,” or “never”) at any time through your device’s operating system settings. Disabling location access may limit or prevent core app functionality, such as ride matching and navigation.
Retention: Historical trip location data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the service, resolve disputes, meet legal/regulatory obligations, or as otherwise described in Section 6.
